LEAP - July 2008 - Montell's moment

Well, for 27 years Kathy Cook's 100m record has stood firm - until today! What a moment - Montell Douglas literally flew down the track in the 100m final and the rest is history - a supreme effort.

As for emotion, I reckon the pictures do the talking......

In the mens event, Ryan Scott is a picture of determination - winning the A final

A nice study of sprinting harmony with Alex Nelson (232) winning his heat

Leon Baptiste, also a heat winner

The mens 110m hurdles is always fast furious action. On their way to heat victories are:

Allan Scott

Karl Jennings (98)

William Sharman

and B final winner Callum Priestley (I love this image!!).

Meanwhile in the Womens event, Sarah Claxton was unbeatable, first two pics from the heat and then one from the final where she close to the British record in a time of12.81!

Dramatic mid leap images from the Womens Long Jump where Amy Harris (133) claimed victory from Amy Woodman.....

In the mens event, here is the winning leap from JJ Jegede....

Closely followed by Okie Giwa-Agbomeirele in 2nd place

The mens discuss was a close affair with just 45cm separating the first three. Here are some moments frozen in time....

Emeka Udechuku finishing in 2nd place

Abdul Buhari (3rd)

Brett Morse (6th)

Loughborough International - May 2008

This Accenture sponsored meeting - thirsty work on a hot day.....

......featured a host of well known 'names' and it was action packed interest from start to finish. The Canon 300mm f2.8 IS lens is the perfect tool for Sports photography and came into it's own here. Many of the best pictures from the day were taken using this lens.

Jessica Ennis was busy with three events entered - preparing for the long jump here.....

A superb victory in the 100m hurdles match.

A huge clearance here by Robbie Grabarz and ultimately - victory.

I chose a different angle for the Womens High Jump and here are some of my attempts to capture the moment of clearance (the bar doesn't always stay on sadly!) Hannah Thomas seen here during the early rounds.....

The main battle was between Stephanie Pywell seen in this sequence.....

......and Susan Moncrief who emerged victorious, turning the tables from the last battle between these two here. The winning clearance of 1.82m
